Singapore: Airbus-SIA joint venture cleared by competition watchdog

 |  February 16, 2015

A proposed joint venture between Airbus Services Asia Pacific and Singapore Airlines, which aims to provide pilot training services for Airbus aircraft in the Asia-Pacific region, has been cleared by the Competition Commission of Singapore (CCS).

CCS said in a press release on Monday that after reviewing submissions and feedback from customers and competitors as well as a public consultation, it drew to a conclusion that the transaction is unlikely to lead to substantial competition concerns in Singapore.

Instead, CCS said the joint venture, which is about to create a new player in regional market, is likely to increase the level of competition for such services.
