South Africa: Rivals overestimate construction collusion fine

Despite earlier reports by competitors, members of South Africa’s construction industry fined by the nation’s Competition Commission have been fined much less than initially reported. Fines of about $12 thousand have been issued after antitrust regulators found companies guilty of anticompetitive business practices within piling and drilling markets. Rivals of those fined originally reported hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines, far less than the just-over $12 thousand issued.
