South Korea: FTC has no mercy for dominant movie firms

South Korea’s Fair Trade Commission has taken a tough stance against several movie chains accused of abusing their market dominance, say reports.

The FTC rejected Wednesday the chains’ request for a commitment agreement, which would fast-track the regulator’s antitrust case by allowing the companies to propose voluntary, corrective measures.

The FTC’s decision means the case will proceed and could land the companies with significant penalties. Reports did not specify which companies are under investigation, however.
