UK telco giant Vodafone has reportedly filed a complaint with Spain’s competition regulator, the CNMC, accusing Spanish rival Telefonica of abusing its dominant market position.
Reports say Vodafone filed the complaint with regulators late last week following Telefonica’s deal struck with broadband provider Jazztel, which has the two partners sharing fiber networks.
That deal, made is October 2012, is accused of playing a role on Telefonica’s efforts to hold a monopoly over Spain’s fiber networks, according to Vodafone’s complaint. The joint venture is anticompetitive against Vodafone, the UK firm claims, because Vodafone does not own fiber optic networks.
Telefonica reportedly denied the allegations.
