Three medical equipment manufacturers fined for bid-rigging and cartelization

The Competition Commission of India has fined three medical equipment manufacturers for bid-rigging and cartelization. PES Installations, MDD Medical System and Medical Product Services were fined a combined Rs 3 crore, approximately 5 percent of their annual turnover.

    The CCI had acted upon a complaint filed by the Foundation of Common Cause and People Awareness. The NGO alleged that the manufacturers were colluding in the supply of medical equipment by certain government hospitals. An investigation revealed abnormally identical bids for the procurement of modular operation theatre, and other equipment.
