The Office of Fair Trading has been asked to look into whether 20 organizations under the National Health Service have violated antitrust laws by joining the South West Pay Consortium. MP Stephen Gilbert is looking specifically at one of the 20 organizations, the Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust, and has asked the OFT to investigate whether its membership of the SWC is part of a wider-spread collusion among NHS organizations to fix wages. The SWC refused to comment on the matter.
