UK: Sky to enter mobile market with Telefonica deal for $171million

Sky announced on Thursday that from 2016 it will begin offering mobile services in the UK after establishing a deal with Telefonica.

Under the terms of the deal, Sky will be able to provide 2G, 3G and 4G services to customers, allowing it to offer ‘quad-play’ packages of mobile, landline, broadband and television services to subscribers.

“Through our partnership with Telefónica UK, we can build on our expertise in content, innovation and service to launch a range of exciting new services and exploit the opportunities for growth in the fast-changing mobile sector,” said Sky CEO Jeremy Darroch.
