US: Defense suppliers Harris and Exelis to combine with little antitrust concerns

Harris Corp does not expect the U.S. government to raise any major antitrust concerns about its acquisition of fellow Pentagon supplier Exelis. Harris will buy Exelis Inc in a deal valued at about $4.75 billion and hopes to see the deal close by the end of the year.

Harris CEO William Brown told Reuters said that there were only a few areas where the two companies competed directly, and their businesses were largely complementary. They expect the deal to go through any antitrust hurdles smoothly.
