American Airlines and US Airways have received a final judgment regarding their settlement to allow their proposed $11 billion merger, according to reports.
US District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kottelly signed the final judgment to allow the merger Friday, a decision that will delay a previously-scheduled trial set for this winter.
The companies agreed to divest gates at key airports across the nation three months after the US Department of Justice sued the airliners over the merger.
Attorneys general from six states and the District of Columbia had also joined the lawsuit.
Reports say Judge Kollar-Kottelly signed off on the settlement as it would allow stronger competition from smaller, low-cost carriers at key airports.
