US: Healthcare goes modern in electronic medical record deal

According to reports, a Massachusetts company focused on integrated practice management and electronic health records has received federal approval to acquire Epocrates, a mobile app developer, for $293 million. Athenahealth won the clearance to buy the company that develops apps for clinical settings which allows users to directly access information in Athenahealth’s electronic health records. The US Federal Trade Commission announced their approval of the deal on Monday.
