Dentons has hired Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom’s co-head of European competition James Venit in Brussels.
Mr Venit is making the switch to Dentons after a 16-year career with US-headquartered firm Skaddens, where he has most recently served as co-head of the firm’s antitrust and competition practice in Europe. A prolific adviser on top-tier M&A transactions, Mr Venit joined Skaddens in 2000 from WilmerHale before being elevated to the role of regional practice co-head in 2010.
Among his most notable mandates have been $164bn acquisition of Time Warner by AOL in 2000 and the $33.6bn tie-up of Mittal Steel and Arcelor in 2006. Dentons European competition head Jörg Karenfort commented: ‘We are absolutely thrilled to have a lawyer of Jim’s stature joining our team. Our clients will benefit from his extensive experience in international antitrust and European competition law.’
