Gala Coral has landed a £241 million prize after offloading its 130 Gala bingo halls to investment trust Caledonia Investments.
Gala is the UK’s biggest bingo operator, with 15 million visitors a year, employing 4000 people.
The sale paves the way for private-equity-owned Gala Coral to merge its Coral bookmaking business with Ladbrokes.
Gala Coral will keep the Gala brand as well as the websites Galabingo.com and Galacasino.com.
The bingo halls will be licensed to use the Gala name.
