UK: ITV Strikes a $155 million deal to buy Ireland’s UTV Media’s TV business

ITV has agreed a £100 million ($155 million) deal to buy UTV media brand, Northern Ireland’s most-watched television channel.

    Britain’s biggest commercial broadcaster said the move would allow it to expand its “free to air business” and would lead to efficiency savings across its network.

    The deal does not included UTV’s radio arms and is still subject to approval from regulator Ofcom and Irish competition authorities.

    The Belfast-based broadcaster confirmed in August that it was in discussions regarding the sale of its television assets. UTV has struggled in recent months.
