Ireland: Competition Regulator clears hotel deal

The Competition Authority has given the green light to the takeover of the Jurys Inn hotel chain by US investment firm Lone Star.

    The €910m deal closed at the end of January and gives Lone Star control of 31 hotels, 7,000 rooms and 2,000 staff across Ireland, Britain and the Czech Republic.

    The Competition Authority said it believes the deal will not “substantially lessen competition in any market for goods and services in the State”.
