Israel: Antitrust Authority looks to mediate spat between Uber, GetTaxi

A dispute between taxi services Uber and GetTaxi has reached Israel’s Antitrust Authority, reports say, as the watchdog approached the companies in part of a competition probe.

    Uber accuses GetTaxi of harming competition by blocking its entry in Israel’s market. Specifically, the charges accuse GetTaxi of forcing its drivers into exclusivity agreements that banned them from driving for Uber.

    Reports say both GetTaxi and Uber allowed their drivers to drive for either company, but soon after Uber entered the market, GetTaxi reversed its stance on the matter.

    The Antitrust Authority has confirmed that it is investigating the matter, and both companies confirmed they had been approached by regulators.
