India: Nissan withdraws CCI challenge, takes another route

Japan-based carmaker Nissan has reportedly withdrawn its petition against the Competition Commission of India’s earlier findings that imposed fines on the company and others for anticompetitive practices.

    Nissan had filed a challenge to the ruling that ordered 14 auto makers to pay fines for practices affecting the spare parts market.

    But on Monday, Nissan backed down from that challenge, but reserved the right to approach the Competition Appellate Tribunal with its appeal. Experts say Nissan will likely do so, but the company said it is merely exploring all of its options.
