Philippines: Economic expert calls for antitrust to protect against fraud

    In an op-ed, Arillo calls for antitrust law to be implemented in the Philippines to protect against monopolies and other financial frauds including tax evasion and smuggling, calling out white-collar workers who “brazenly commit financial frauds.”

    The editorial was published following the proposed antitrust bill that aims to establish stricter antitrust policies and establish the Philippine Fair Competition Commission. The watchdog, according to his piece, is modeled after the US Federal Trade Commission.
