Romania: Competition regs net triple the fines seen in 2012

Romania’s Competition Council has reportedly netted three-times the amount of fines it issued in 2012 last year, amounting to more than $27.5 million in sanctions.

    But despite the increase, reports say the fines were fifteen times less than those netted in 2011 following sanctions issued against major corporations, including telco giants Orange and Vodafone.

    The Council also reported a total of 18 new investigations launched in 2013; six of those involved market probes.
