UK: OFT refers pharma device merger to Competition Commission

The UK’s Office of Fair Trading has reportedly referred a proposed merger regarding makers of pharmaceutical products to the Competition Commission over competition concerns, reports say.

    Omnicell announced December it plans to acquire Surgichem, owned by Bupa, in a $20 million by. Omnicell specializes in automatic pharmaceutical systems, and Surgichem manufacturers packaging to ensure correct medicine dosages.

    The OFT announced the referral Friday.
