Multinational: Ad agency merger pushed back on Chinese delay

Advertising giants Omnicom and Publicis may be forced to push back their scheduled merger completion as Omnicom announced the anticipated merger clearance from Chinese regulators is taking longer than expected.

    US-based Omnicom and France-based Publicis first announced plans to merge last July in a $35.1 billion deal that would create the world’s largest advertising firm. Since, the companies have received all the necessary clearance for the deal except for approval from China.

    Now, Omnicom says, the companies may not finalize the deal until the third quarter. They had originally planned to finalize the merger in early-2014.
