The Competition Commission of Pakistan reportedly accepted concessions offered by one of the country’s top food brands Shangrila Private Ltd after the firm agreed to comply with competition regulation regarding the company’s marketing tactics.
According to reports, the company had used the tagline “Pakistan’s Number One” in its advertising; rival National Foods argued, however, that its market share was larger than Shangrila, meaning the tagline is false.
Shangrila avoided CCP sanctions, however, as it discontinued the ad campaign and vowed to align its practices with competition law. The regulator said it now considers the matter closed.
