UK: IT contracting attracts eyes of OFT

The UK’s Office of Fair Trading is set to probe the IT services market over concerns some companies in the industry are awarded more contracts than others.

    An initial report from the OFT found some outsourcing IT companies earned disproportionately more public sector contracts than other – a finding, the regulator said, that warrants further investigation.

    According to reports, the probe will center on commercial, off-the-shelf software services. Schools will be asked to participate in the investigation.

    The full probe is expected to conclude by March of next year.
