The US Department of Justice received a letter sent by dozens of chamber of commerces Thursday in favor of the American Airlines, US Airways merger, the latest in a growing movement for the DOJ to drop its lawsuit blocking the deal.
The chamber of commerces described the merger as one that would result in “a better airline with a solid financial foundation.” Reports say more than 24 chamber of commerces signed the letter sent to Attorney General Eric Holder.
As the trial is set to start next month, support for the DOJ to settle with the airlines is mounting; the letter was sent one day after various local majors urged the US regulator to abandon its bid to block the merger.
