Germany: Primacom on merger spree to consolidate cable market

Germany’s fourth-largest cable operator Primacom is reportedly seeking out merger deals in efforts to become pro-active in the nation’s market consolidation, say reports.

    The company said it has already submitted bids for assets of Deutsche Telekabel and Tele Columbus. The company told reporters that it consists of “hunters, not hunted,” and confirmed the company was “ready to be a consolidator.”

    The industry in Germany was once one of Europe’s most fragmented until giants like Kabel Deutschland and Unitymedia restructured the market.

    Consolidation has continued recently, with Vodafone having finalized its $10 billion takeover of Germany’s top cable firm Kabel Deutschland last week.
