UK: Government seeking consult on additional reforms for new competition regime

As the UK prepares for the launch of the new Competition and Markets Authority next April, reports say the government is consulting on whether to launch secondary legislation to compliment the first draft regulations, which will officially implement the new competition law regime.

    Reports say the CMA Transition Team has published a second set of guidance policies that outline how the new competition regime will roll out and perform its work. The second set is now up for consultation.

    The CMA, which will combine the work of the current Office of Fair Trading with the Competition Commission, will be legally established on the first of October and begin operating on April 1, 2014.
