German pharmaceutical giant Bayer confirmed Friday it is the subject of an antitrust investigation by Chinese regulators, though details of the probe are scarce.
A spokesperson for Bayer told reporters that a local unit of the Administration for Industry and Commerce searched Bayer offices following competition concerns; the spokesperson said Bayer is “fully cooperating” with regulators.
The investigation comes at a time when reports say Chinese competition regulators are zeroing-in on multinational firms and cracking down on certain sectors of the market, including the pharmaceutical industry.
