Serbia: New Air Serbia cleared for takeoff

Air Serbia was granted regulatory approval late Wednesday, the result of a buyout of Jat Airways by Etihad. While Air Serbia will not be considered a new company, reports say the body will be the legal successor to Jat Airways, using the same international agreements.

    In a statement, the Serbian Competition Protection Commission found that the merger would not negatively harm competition.

    Ticket sales for the airline were set to go on sale this week.

    Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
