EU: No anti-subsidy tax for China’s solar panels yet, says Commission

While the European Commission said it is considering an anti-subsidy measure on Chinese solar panels, the regulator said it will wait at least four months to decide whether it will impose temporary taxes on Chinese manufacturers. The news, announced Wednesday, follows the price floor imposed on Chinese makers of solar panels into the EU following allegations of dumping. The case amounted to six weeks of deliberations between China and the EU in the biggest trade dispute between the two. The EU first launched an anti-subsidy investigation into such solar panels, as well as cells and wafers, from Chinese manufacturers last November. The regulator now has until December 5 to impose the taxes. EU and China’s trade chiefs agreed last month on the solar panel price floors, though some domestic solar panel makers claim the minimum prices are still not high enough.
