US: Secret’s out – new leaders for world’s largest airline announced

The head of what is to become the world’s largest airline after a merger between American and US Airways has been announced. According to reports, the eight-member executive team chosen to lead the company will include five US airways executives, including current president Scott Kirby. US Airways CEO Doug Parker is also included among the eight, and will maintain the same title. Three executives from American’s AMR Corp will also be on the board, including AMR CEO Tom Horton who will reportedly stand as chairman of the company, though he is set to exit next year. The companies plan to finalize the merger this summer I a deal that will create the world’s largest airline. AMR will retain a total of 72 percent of the new company, despite its leading team being comprised mostly of US Airways executives.
