Beverage conglomerate AB InBev, which recently acquired Grupo Modelo SAB in a highly controversial deal, is seeking the dismissal of a private case against the company concerning the acquisition. The case claims the deal will lead to higher beer prices for nine types of beer. Both AB InBev and Constellation Brands Inc, which plaintiffs say would come under control of AB InBev with the finalization of the deal, have slammed the private suit and requested it to be tossed by a judge. Consumers who filed the case against the company have requested the buyout to be postponed by federal officials. Constellation Brands will take over the joint distribution business, a venture which Modelo currently holds the stake in, as concession for the approval of the deal.
