UK: Ferry operator newcomer optimistic about Eurotunnel probe

Commenting on the UK’s Competition Commission probe launched into Eurotunnel, which recently entered the ferry market through purchases of three ferries from the now-defunct SeaFrance, MyFerryLink, a newcomer to the ferry industry, has expressed optimism for the outcome of the investigation – complaints were issued to regulators following Eurotunnel’s acquisition as rivals claimed that the combined control of Eurotunnel and MyFerryLink would prove dominating and anticompetitive. MyFerryLink managing director Robin Wilkins said he expects a “positive outcome” from the probe. Wilkins stated that a possible decision on the investigation could be made in June.
