Lawyers for online retailer Amazon filed a request to the court asking for permission to make redactions of what it considers commercially sensitive information within court documents that are a part of an ongoing price-fixing case. The case, which surrounds allegations that publishers of e-books conspired to fix their products’ prices on online retailers like Amazon, includes Apple Inc. as a defendant. The iPhone maker has responded to Amazon’s request to the court with its own letter arguing that Amazon does not meet the legal standard to have redacted or sealed information, describing the company as “no disinterested third party.” According to reports, Amazon is known for preserving the secrecy of its business practices. The trial is scheduled to begin early next month.
