Iran/India: India helps Iran ships avoid Western crackdown

A joint venture between Iran-based Irano Hind Shipping and India-based Shipping Corp. of India Ltd will land six out of seven ships in the hands of the India-based company to allow the ships to avoid Western sanctions, according to reports. Shipping Corp. of India stands as the nation’s largest ocean carrier, and first entered the deal in response to sanctions imposed against Iran for its nuclear program. Per the agreement between the two conglomerates, the ships acquired by the India-based company will fly the Indian flag.
