US: GE files suit against rival Whirlpool

According to the media, General Electric has filed a suit in Kentucky against main rival Whirlpool. GE alleges the company overpaid for a piece of refrigeration equipment and is arguing that the price was jacked-up due to collusion between Whirlpool and two European suppliers. Reports say the allegations point to events in the 1990s an concern compressors, used in refrigerators. GE, one the largest buyers of those parts, is seeking an undisclosed amount of compensation; Whirlpool denies any wrongdoing.
