Israel: Mega grocery chain lashes out at antitrust authorities for strict regulation
The CEO of a wide-spread retail grocery chain is speaking out against a “standstill” market, picky consumers and tougher regulations. Super-Sol CEO Itzik Abercohen attended a retailers conference last Sunday where he had strong words to reflect on a shifting market. According to Abercohen, Super-Sol is no longer the epicenter for the nation’s shoppers; Super-Sol has about 270 stores around the nation. According to reports, Abercohen also faulted authorities for the chain’s struggles, noting that watchdogs do not differentiate between suburban or metropolis locations of its stores, yet still forces the company to slash prices. Super-Sol’s rival, Mega, was also pointed out for struggling against the authorities, particularly the nation’s Antitrust Authority.
