Canada: High prices, mediocre wireless service needs to change

In an Op-Ed for the Gazette, politician Marc Garneau argues that Canadians need more competition in the wireless Internet and phone sector for fairer prices and faster service. In his argument, Garneau states that while prices remain high for wireless services, Canada is “in the middle” of wireless rankings for the developed world, citing OECD and Harvard University studies to back up his claim. His frustrations extend to businesses as well which, he says, often deal with a lack of provider choice and restrictive contracts. Competition is the only viable solution Garneau sees to solve Canada’s wireless issues.
