Poland: Legislators ready to revamp competition law

According to reports, Polish legislators have confirmed they will work to make significant changes to the nation’s antitrust laws. Reports say that the changes would clarify competition law and are intended to increase efficiency in legal procedures. The provisions would also allow the Polish Competition Authority greater power over imposing remedies of those in violation of competition law. Among the changes proposed include a new two stage merger review process, the process of the PCA to communicate to relevant parties the specific concerns it possesses over a merger, confidentiality in merger decisions, and an expansion of the leniency program.
