France: $239M fine for mobile operator leaders

A $239 million fine has been issued to France’s two top mobile operators by the nation’s antitrust authority. Orange and SFR have been found to be abusing their dominance by generating anti-competitive pricing policies between 2005 and 2008. Specifically, the authority said that the companies’ practice of offering unlimited calls within one network hampered competition for rivals. The two companies have said they would appeal the fine.
