Malaysia/Australia: Malaysia Airlines says Qantas/Emirates deal is ‘self-serving’

Malaysia Airlines has asked the Australian Consumer and Competition Commission to take a second, more thorough review of the recently approved merger between Qantas and Emirates airlines, though assured that Malaysia Airlines does not disapprove of the deal. MAS general council Dr. Vince See said that the ACCC’s review of the deal did not give a complete picture of how the merger would hamper competition in the sector, and argued that the two airlines gave only “self-serving” arguments.
