Singapore: Music publisher questions whether licensing agreement violates antitrust law

The Competition Commission of Singapore is asking the public for input on the current procedures in place for the licensing of musical rights to digital licnsees. The Digital Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed as an agreement between Music Publishers Ltd, the Composer and Authors Society of Singapore, and twelve publishers to jointly share their rights of musical works. The CCS is now looking for feedback into the agreement after Music Publishers Ltd had asked the competition authority to clarify whether the agreement violates antitrust law under the Competition Act, which bans agreements between undertakings and the associations of undertakings.
