U.S.: AU Optronics fined $500 million USD

In the LCD price-fixing case (CPI reported) a California federal judge hit AU Optronics Corp. with a $500 million USD fine and sentenced two of its executives to three years each in jail after the Taiwanese company. The fine is half of the $1 billion USD penalty sought by prosecutors in the case, who said AUO deserved no leniency for its role in a $72 billion USD global conspiracy to systematically fix prices for LCD panels.
