Credit Bureau Services, a Florida-based mortgage credit reporting agency, has filed an antitrust lawsuit against Experian and CoreLogic. Experian is a major credit reporting bureau. CoreLogic provides financial, property and consumer information; it also provides data and analytics.
Credit Bureau Services claims that the two companies conspired to drive smaller credit agencies, such as the plaintiff, out of the market. The complaint specifically points to blocked access to Experian’s mortgage credit information for “tri-merged” mortgage credit reports, which are required by banks and investors to extend credit for home mortgages. Credit Bureau Services seeks class certification for all mortgage credit report resellers separated from Experian.
