Watchdog OKs acquisitions of 100 percent of Bokamoso Private Hospital’s shares and capital
Botswana’s Competition Authority has approved Khella’s proposed acquisition of all issued shares in Bokamoso Private Hospital, and Kalend’s proposed acquisition of all issued share capital in the Hospital. Khella is a wholly owned subsidiary of Botswana Public Officers Medical Aid Scheme (BPOMAS). Kalend is a joint venture between BPOMAS and LenMed Health Plan.
Although the merged entity will have a market share of 35 percent post-transaction, the Competition Authority found that potential abuse of dominance would be held in check by an unchanged market structure.
