BAA to sell Edinburgh airport for $1.3 billion

BAA will sell Edinburgh airport to Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) for 807.2 million pounds (approximately $1.3 billion). The sale comes after the U.K. Competition Commission ordered BAA to sell either the Edinburgh or Glasgow terminals because of its dominance in the London and central Scotland airport markets. BAA owns Heathrow and Stansted airports. The Commission gave its approval for the U.S.-based GIP to buy Edinburgh airport; GIP already owns Gatwick and City airports.
