Geradin Partners Expands Across Europe With German Launch and Senior Hires

Geradin Partners has announced the opening of new offices in Berlin and Cologne, marking a significant step in its European growth. According to a statement, the expansion comes alongside the addition of multiple partners, senior counsel, counsel and associates across its network, bringing the firm’s team of competition specialists to more than 50 lawyers, including 17 partners.

    The German offices will operate under the leadership of Dr. Thomas Funke and Prof. Dr. Thomas Hoppner, supported by four counsel — Catharina Schulte-Wintrop, Ghazale Mandegarian-Fricke, Philip Westerhoff, and Johannes Wick — as well as senior associates and associates. Per a statement, the move strengthens the firm’s presence in the German market and reinforces its focus on competition law, economic regulation in tech and media, and regulatory litigation.

    Elsewhere, the firm is adding names in Brussels, London and Paris. In Brussels, Daniel Baker and Jérémie Jourdan join as partners, with Baker focusing on merger control and foreign subsidies control, while Jourdan, also connected to the Paris office, will cover tech regulation, competition issues and EU court litigation. Their arrival follows that of Trevor Soames in February, bringing the Brussels partner count to six.

    The London office welcomes Damian Collins, the former UK Minister for Tech and the Digital Economy and former chair of the Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee. Meanwhile, the Paris office has appointed Marie Sellier, formerly public affairs director at Vivendi and a specialist in digital policy. Both appointments bolster Geradin Partners’ public policy practice. They follow earlier additions in Helsinki of Jan Vapaavuori, Finland’s former Minister of Economic Affairs, and Tuomas Pöysti, the former Chancellor of Justice.

    In addition, London has added counsel Kieran Anderson, a competition litigator with experience in cases before the UK Competition Appeal Tribunal.
