India: Ethanol collusion sparks probe

    A preliminary inquiry into the matter following complaints provoked the CCI to launch a probe; a senior official at the watchdog told media that “it looks like there is a case which needs to be investigated in detail.

    Reports say companies that use ethanol and industrial alcohol for product manufacturing, including various liquor companies, launched complaints with the watchdog alleging oil marketing companies and makers of ethanol of fixing prices during bidding processes.
