UK: Healthcare firms expect years of competition complaints to come

The CEO of private healthcare provider Ramsay Health care UK said she believes complaints will be launched with Monitor, the new competition watchdog of the National Health Service, over the next three years following government reforms.

At a conference, Jill Watts, whose firm was named as the largest private NHS provider in a recent study, the CEO warned that April’s overhauls in the healthcare sector did not result in uniform changes to the way the private sector is viewed by commissioners throughout the country.

Ramsay said “a number of organizations” will likely approach Monitor with new complaints. Monitor has opened probes into two complaints since it was established in April.
