NEW REPORT: Cowboy Chicken Ropes In Millennials With Mobile Order-Ahead

The mobile revolution has hit the dining industry, and from local haunts to multinational chains, restaurants are looking to offer increasingly mobile customers new ways to pick up a quick meal.

The latest PYMNTS Mobile Order-Ahead Tracker™, powered by LevelUp, features news on restaurants around the space introducing new mobile order-ahead solutions designed to give customers new and improved ordering experiences.

Around the Mobile Order-Ahead World

Fast food is getting even faster. Increasingly, restaurants are turning to smartphones to speed up service and keep customers happy. Over the course of the past month, several companies debuted new features and solutions designed to speed up service.

Some national chains even embraced delivery options for the first time. Denny’s unveiled its mobile ordering features, enabling customers to place delivery or pickup orders via the company’s new mobile app, along with Facebook and Twitter chatbot integrations.

And mobile order-ahead tech is also headed for the “Happiest Place On Earth.” According to reports, after successful limited trial runs in Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park in Disney World in Orlando, mobile ordering features are being added to restaurants throughout the Magic Kingdom.

Going Mobile to Win over Millennials

With millennials projected to spend nearly $800 billion in 2017 (that’s 7 percent more on monthly food budgets than average Americans), restaurants are hankering to pull out all the stops to get millennials to order — in or out. To win them over, many restaurants are betting that millennials prefer their meals with a side of technology.

That includes Cowboy Chicken, a Dallas-based fast food chicken chain, who in January of this year debuted their mobile order-ahead technology. In a recent interview with PYMNTS, Cowboy Chicken President and CEO Sean Kennedy said the company is hoping to use the app to capture more millennial consumers.

“Millennials really want the convenience of being able to order ahead, use mobile payments ahead of time, and walk in and pick up their order,” he said. “I think that’s where the future of the restaurant business is going.”
