India: Mitsui gets nod to acquire Dupont’s copper

Competition Commission has approved the acquisition of copper fungicide business of Dupont by Kocide, a wholly owned subsidiary of Japanese major Mitsui.

    Kocide established in 2014 for the purpose of the acquisition, sells and markets the acquired copper fungicide globally. It does not have any activities in India, as per the combination document available with the CCI.

    In a tweet, the regulator today said that it has approved the “acquisition of the copper fungicide business of DuPont by Mitsui and Kocide”.

    US-based Dupont has substantial operations in India and serves sectors like healthcare, agriculture, electronics, energy and plastics, among others.

    CCI considered the market for copper fungicides in India, as the relevant market for the transaction.
