Canada: Canada’s Competition Bureau investigates Indigo Books

Canada’s Competition Bureau (CB) announced an investigation into Indigo Books and Music based on anti-competition allegations. The CB requested a court order last week to require Indigo and Japanese E-book maker Kobo Inc. to turn over records relating to the investigation. The inquiry is a continuation of CB’s investigation into the E-book market concerning price agreements between publishers which violates Canadian competition law.

    The CB stated that no conclusion of wrongdoing has been made at this time and Indigo spokeswoman Janet Eger stated, “As a general policy Indigo does not comment on matters before the courts or other tribunals.”
